A Supermoon in Aries
This impulsive Aries Moon comes with real oomph, ruled by a strong and confident Mars in his nocturnal home. A fiery Moon infused by Scorpio’s passion, reflecting the equative Libra Sun. Arguably, the Aries Libra axis holds the most direct and immediate experience of duality. You versus I, the Self in contrast with and seperate from, yet defined by, the outer world. The constant interplay in interaction. As soon and as long as we are conscious beings, we engage in this dance. Scorpio takes it one significant step further. From encounter to bonding. From interaction to intimacy. Non of this limited to romantic relationship and partnership, but defining the way we relate to, identify with, mirror or merge with those beings, subjects and topics we come in contact with. Where Libra represents the interface between us and the other, the outside world, in Scorpio, the interface morphs into alchemy.
Aries is life force, pure energy, action. Scorpio is the symbiosis where this energy finds purpose. Both signs are in quincunx, the aspect that juggles the irreconcilable. Mars in Aries is always ready to go for it, but when push comes to shove, he might be a fighter without a real cause, lacking that final consequence. The commitment of Mars in Scorpio is total, but comes at the price of a loss of independence, naiveté and freedom.
In this Full Moon, the ambivalent symbiosis of a need for reckless independence, a hunger for true purpose and meaningful, deep commitment can be felt and experienced most intensely.
It is Mercury, just having entered the sign of the Scorpion, who has us delve deeper, prying for answers to this existential question of what we really, truly want. The Messenger is following in Mars’ footsteps. The warrior himself initiated this, back at the equinox. Now we are driven to gain deeper understanding of what we have been going through, searching for, while coming out of eclipse season. We’re probing and examining, leaving no stone unturned in a need for deeper meaning and higher truth. In this search it is, with Mercury now at the apex of the yod with Uranus and Neptune, where we can glimpse beyond the veil and uncover forbidden secrets, where we venture into unknown realms to unlock the meaning of life.
This isn’t the relentless push pull of the Mars Pluto square, but it is magnetic and forceful in it’s own right. Entering into this spooky mysterious realm on an intimidating square with Scorpio’s Overlord Pluto, what we find could be outright frightening. Even to Mercury, wanderer between worlds, being blindsided in a moment of elusive illumination can be daunting. Like shining a pinlight into bottomless darkness and for a glimpse of an instant, you saw it but could not possibly grasp it and now you’re haunted by haunting it. Needing to KNOW.
We can’t really know what we are probing into, digging up, we might be crashing through our own taboos, descending into the depths of what is being disclosed here. Turning a corner into the dark beneath the bright Aries Moon where action precedes reflection, driven by instinct, an impulsive move.
Passion and anger are mighty driving forces. If we don’t take them anywhere they will turn against us, tear us apart, eat us alive. For means of this highly simplified discourse, anger arises where passion is denied, stifled, corrupted. Anger can be a call to action, a hotheaded response or a sweltering force. Anger turns vile when we are not in a position to stand up against what is wrong in order to make it right. We find ourselves disempowered. We were searching for truth but the truth can be enraging.
Where have free will and self assertion been thwarted? When were our instincts, drives and impulses labeled wrong? That’s probably where our anger began to turn into malice, it’s expression manipulated. It has become inappropriate, unwanted.
It is Chiron in Aries who is on a quest to heal the wounded, unexpressed and unclaimed masculine. This isn’t a question of sex or gender, it is the yang energy we all need to be alive. Balanced by the Libra qualities of mutual respect, sensibility, understanding. Fairness is the main and central theme of this axis, not a quality found on one side. It is where the right balance is struck, where interests differ but are respected and either side is granted equal rights. The Centaur is not only renowned healer. He is a teacher of ethics and combat. Trainer and life coach of demi gods and heroes. Chiron teaches fairness. If you have to fight, do so, by all means. But know what you are doing, know the rules as well as your limits. Abide by them. Chiron, the outcast and unwanted child teaches strength through clear and confident presence. Radical self acceptance. Unwavering. Now this legend teamed up with Eris, Goddess of righteous rage, fiercely calling out wrongdoing of any kind. This is where anger is being reinstalled as a healthy and needed force of justice where it doesn’t mean harm but expresses and executes the urgent need to right the wrongs. It directs us to where we need to blast a trail and hold space for the disenfranchised. First and foremost, for ourselves.
This highly energized Supermoon is backed by a strong Mars. The warrior in his power is neither volatile nor destructive. He is calm, confident and in charge, self possessed, doesn’t execute force as much as he embodies it. Impulses, needs and passions are strong now. The energy is impulsive yet complex, supercharged and intense. We are being urged, driven, to find purpose and enact it. To be the warrior with a cause This stunningly bright Moon shines her light on who we truly are. Let her gentle fierce spotlight energize and recharge you. Let it channel and illuminate your true passion. Unlock it, unleash it. Let it lead the way. That is how we find our path. Stepping into our own rightful place in this world is the most empowering thing we can do. Calm, confident and in charge. Dare to be you. No compromise here. Come as you are.
It is not failure we fear most. It is the full scope of our power.
Below there’s a link to a post about a differnet astrological context but also starring Chiron in Aries. There is a lot of resonance. We are coming out of a solar eclipse, right now, and Neptune is still in Aries, about to drift back into Pisces until February.

This was very informative. How did you make out? This moon kicked my butt!
Thank you.
